Did You Know…

… that you could rename your line codes?

For example, one use of this is to match your line codes to those of your primary supplier. Matching your line codes to your supplier’s helps simplify interactions between your store and the warehouse.

Access the LINE CODE RENAME screen from Menu, Vendor, Line, Line Code Rename.

Simply type the Line Code you have set for a certain line of parts in the LINE CODE field, and then type the name of the new Line Code you wish to change to in the NEW LINE CODE field. Click RENAME LINE CODE, and the system will run the utility.

In the Status section, you can see the progress that the Line Code Rename Utility is making, showing the number of parts to process, the number of parts processed, any parts that failed to process, and how long the change took.

Note: A part cannot be run through the Line Code Rename Utility if it exists on an open document (sales order, purchase order, return order, etc.) To find these parts, you can run the Parts On Open Documents Report, accessed from the Menu, Inventory, Inventory Info.

In a future Did You Know, we will show you how to order from your primary supplier without renaming your line codes, even if they do not match.
