Did You Know…

… that you can use “Cost Range Pricing” on the Customer, PRICE PLAN SETUP screen?

Background

If you load vendor prices infrequently, or your vendor’s prices don’t change often, you can certainly use the Price % Utility function to manually “mark-up” and set your Price Levels 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and/or 7 from the vendor’s cost (Current Cost – Level 8). Many customers are currently doing this!

However, if your vendor prices change often, you might strongly consider using the Customer, PRICE PLAN SETUP screen instead. Why? Because you can set up your “markup” from Cost per individual customer account, for all accounts within an account group, or too many other ways to mention.

Here is the benefit: as soon as you change your Part Costs, using any screen function or DFIU, the sell price at Invoicing POS for all of your counter persons will be “marked-up” accordingly, in real-time!

Meaning, if you want a GPM% of 33% for all parts sold within a line, you will always get that 33% mark up at POS whenever the Part Cost changes for any part within that line. For some of you using Central Services, your Part Costs are changing while you are sleeping. However, your GPM% will still continue to be 33% without any additional effort by you or your team members!

To take your setups one step further, you can also set up your “markup” GPM% values for different cost ranges of all of the parts within a line or sub line (PN Code).

Meaning, when the part costs (and associated sell prices) are less expensive (between $0.01 and $20.00), you can set a higher GPM% (e.g. 40%), when the parts are more expensive (between $20.00 and $100.00), you can set a lower GPM% (e.g. 33%), and when the parts are most expensive (e.g. $100.00 and above), you can set the lowest GPM% (e.g. 27%).

Setup

In order to utilize Cost Range Pricing, you must first set it up. To do so, find the COST RANGE PRICING field in the SYSTEM GENERAL SETUP screen, Price Plan Setup section, accessed from Controls, System, General Setup. The field defaults to unchecked, and to enable Cost Range Pricing, simply check the box and click the UPD button to apply the changes. You are now set up to use Cost Range Pricing.
